Maltby Miners Welfare Band has been busy working with local communities to remember the 80th Anniversary of D Day.
In May the band entertained at the Rotherham Hospice fund raiser 40’s Tea Dance,some fabulous 40’s outfits and dancing made for a great afternoon.
June 1st saw the band at Kiveton Park and Wales Community Hall for a 40’s concert, in conjunction with the KPW history society’s D Day exhibition.
On June 6th, the band was at Laughton Village Hall for a D Day event which culminated in the lighting of the Beacon and the Last Post played by principal cornet Jonathan Chambers.
Also on the 6th, at the lighting of the Beacon in Maltby, the Last Post was performed by Molly Cadieu, principal cornet of the Training Band.
