The band is sad to announce the death of Ernest (Ernie) Brown. Following in his fathers footsteps “Young ” Ernie joined the band in 1939, over the years playing Tenor Horn, Soprano Cornet, Eb Bass and finally 3rd cornet, only retiring in 2019 at the age of 89. During that time he also served for a number of years as Treasurer and then Chairman.
Ernie’s funeral will be held at Rotherham Crematorium on Monday 30th October at 11.45am, and afterwards at The Haynook in Maltby. Margaret (Ernie’s widow)and our band secretary for many years has requested any past members to join with us to share music and many memories.
